Steph and I made the great trek out to Los Angeles to see my friends and family for Thanksgiving.
Wednesday, we headed out to the Palisades in the afternoon to see the ocean. We ran into some friendly turkeys who had been rescued (purchased) from a slaughterhouse.
We went up to the bluffs to admire the view and take some pictures.
The down to the beach to enjoy the sunset. There were some dolphins in the water and a family taking photographs on the jetty. I got some great pictures down there.
Thanksgiving Day began with a 6.2 mile run down San Vincente to the beach. Then the cooking began. Here's a shot of Steph making mashed potatoes while mom makes vegan stuffing.
We did not make a vegan entree this year, electing instead to make many vegan sides: mashed potatoes, pumpkin bread, green beans, broccoli and sauteed asparagus with mushrooms. Lots of good food.
We stopped in Thousand Oaks to see grandma Elaine.
Then it was off to Ventura for Thanksgiving at Barbra and Ed's place. Lots of good food and good times. We played ping pong on my old table from college.
Friday we went to Trader Joe's, saw Crislyn and then played ultimate frisbee. I am still a little sore from frisbee, but it was super fun. Dinner with the family was at Fogo de Chao, and then an evening of folk music by John Craigie.
Saturday, Jon, Steph and I met up with Forest, Mark and Buckley and went to the Star Trek Expo in Hollywood. It was pretty neat; there were costumes, props, and sets from all the different Star Trek shows and movies.
Then lunch at Native Foods (thanks for being such a sport and eating at a vegan place, Jon) and back to Colorado.
A quick trip, but lots of fun. Looks like we'll be back in Cali (Santa Cruz, mostly) in December.
